On account of National Chemistry Week, the International Undergraduate Student Chapter of American Chemical Society at Bombay College of Pharmacy (Mumbai) conducted a workshop on 24th October 2020, for the students of Apeejay School, Nerul (Navi Mumbai). As the theme of National Chemistry Week was "Sticking with Chemistry", the topic of this workshop was to learn how to make glue at home using milk within 15min!
This intriguing workshop was carried out via 'Zoom'. It was conducted in two sessions- 4pm to 5pm (For sections A and B) and 5pm to 6pm (For sections C and D). We received overwhelming participation from students of seventh grade who attended this workshop.
We gave information about adhesives and the procedure was demonstrated via a video. While doing so, adequate emphasis was given to the chemistry behind glue making.
The said workshop was graced by the presence of Dr. Krishna Iyer, senior professor of the Bombay College of Pharmacy. Students got an opportunity to interact with Dr. Iyer. This was indeed an enriching experience for the school students. Students from seventh grade attended the workshop with great zeal and enthusiasm.
We have received positive feedback from all students that they have learned something new that day and enjoyed the playful demonstration.
