Everyone has a memoir in them. We asked students to write a short and powerful autobiography of glue. The contest was open for 4 days from 18th October to 22nd October, 2020. This contest, like every new contest we start, was admittedly a bit of an experiment.
We received entries via Google Form from different colleges viz The Bishop's Co-Ed School, Dr. L. H. Hiranandani College of Pharmacy, VES college of pharmacy, and Bombay college of pharmacy.
Talking about biographies, we got pieces that were moving, funny, introspective, and honest. We got a snapshot of glue life. The winning biographies we selected had few things in common that set them apart. They artfully balanced the action of the story with a reflection on what it meant to the writer. They took risks, like including dialogue or playing with punctuation, sentence structure, and word choice to develop a strong voice.
On account of National Chemistry Week, ACS BCP SC organized a series of events. The theme of NCW was Sticking With Chemistry and account of that a contest Autobiography of a Glue was organized. We received amazing responses from everyone!!
The winners of the contest were:
First place: Vinay Kadam (S Y B Pharm, Bombay College of Pharmacy
Second place: Sannidhi Poojary (S Y B Pharm, Bombay College of Pharmacy)
Third place: Amisha Undavia (S Y B Pharm, Vivekanand Education Society's College of Pharmacy)
Our heartiest congratulations to all the winners and a big thank you to everyone who participated. Stay tuned for our upcoming events!!
